“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body.
When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.
But when it is unhealthy, your body is filled with darkness.”
Take a moment and look around you. So much of the world comes in through your eyes. You can let your eyes wander or you can choose what you look at.
What you allow in through your eyes can make your insides healthy or sick.
When a man views another woman inappropriately, it leaves him dirty inside. When he looks at his wife with a heart of love, it fills him with light and delight.
Choosing what I eat makes my body healthy or unhealthy, and in the same way, choosing how I use my eyes fills me with light or darkness.
- I can starve myself and look at nothing (if that’s even possible).
- I can use my eyes to look at the world with greed, hate, envy, and lust.
- I can use my eyes to fill me with nature, art, and excellent books.
- I can use my eyes to view people with joy and appreciation.
When two people look into each other’s eyes with love, light fills and floods the space within, between, and around them.
Today I will use the eyes God gifted me with to fill me with beauty and light. Then that beauty and light will shine through me.
