“Teach these things and insist that everyone learn them.
Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young.
Be an example to all believers in what you say,
in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
1 Timothy 4:11, 12
Being young can be a cop-out. I can say, “I just don’t know,” “I don’t have the experience,” or, “no one ever taught me.” Or sometimes we’re given an opportunity beyond our years and we struggle to overcome the mental hurdle that we don’t have what it takes.
God’s standards for each of us are timeless and ageless. Recently, I heard someone say, “I’m this way because I’m a millennial.” Translation: Because I’m (millennial, young, old, inexperienced, enter-your-flavor-here) my sins are excusable.
God equips regardless of limitations. Our excuses don’t limit or impress God. I am good enough when he says I am, in whatever he’s called me to do. We can boldly step forward, no matter how much we know. We can be tools for God with confidence, knowing he’ll never over-utilize us or give us more than we can handle with his strength.
My job is just to be faithful.
