God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Are we aware of how much we need Him? But more importantly, how aware do we want to be? Are we content to stay in our own cozy little self-deceived world, or are we willing to face the pain it takes to break through our weaknesses in order to experience the Kingdom Jesus offers us?
We can’t experience success unless we’re willing to fail. The religious leaders pretended to have it all together and wanted people to believe they were above failure.
Pretense is worse than failure.
People and systems have their place but weren’t created for us to lean on indefinitely. If we lean on someone else, eventually we will drain them and they will let us down. Rules, rituals, and programs won’t answer our prayers when we’re in trouble. God blesses those who realize they need him and he will not falter under the weight of our lives.
Realizing our need of God opens the Kingdom of Heaven and brings his blessings on us. What more could we want?
Lord, I’m willing to be on your operating table. Open my eyes to see what you already know.
