Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
(Philippians 2:3, 4)
We all want to be known by others for something we’ve done. It’s okay to want this, but not okay to let it drive us, or we’ll do some stupid things. Sometimes famous people do crazy things because they desperately want to be known for something.
Thinking of others always is better than only thinking about our own interests. In fact, if we only think of ourselves we’ll become lonely because most people don’t like being around folks who are mainly invested in their own and agenda. I will have lots of friends if I take a personal interest in others. When you think about it, it doesn’t make sense why we would want to talk about ourselves… …we are around ourselves 24/7, you would think we would want a break and find out how things are going for someone else. This works well in business, if you put people and relationships ahead of profits usually the money will follow.
Lord, you are the master at putting others first, help me to think of other people’s interests over my own.
