I Didn’t Need to Invent This God

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
(Colossians 1:15-17)

To sit in the presence of the One who created everything, visible and invisible. The one who isn’t surprised at anything. The one who created the vast warehouse of thoughts and spirits each of us can choose from.

The only one whose explanation fits everything; all other philosophies and theologies have inconsistencies and loopholes. All other systems break down under some level of pressure. But this God gives me something I can build my one and only life on, then a family, and then a business.

To know when my little world is falling apart, there actually is someone who holds all of creation together.

I desperately need for there to be a Supreme Being who is all-knowing and all-powerful. I would have settled for a god who is ill-tempered. But to know that this All and Everything person also is All-Love, blows my mind.

And to know I didn’t just make up this God in my imagination because I needed for someone like him to exist…

Lord, I can only surrender to the One who is larger than anyone or anything I ever will fathom, and know that my helpless soul is safe with you. That when I don’t understand, you do. And when my strength and wisdom are gone, I can run to you. When you say, “Walk in this direction,” I can trust I will come out at the right place.

You never have failed me.
