My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me,
because they belong to you.
According to this verse, Jesus prays only for those who accept his teaching. If you don’t accept his teaching, you’re on your own.
Instead of praying for you, Jesus is standing at your door, inviting you.
For many years I was a hardline Christian, but not a Jesus follower. That was a miserable, empty life. It’s no surprise when people who claim to be Christians but aren’t following Jesus are so uptight. Jesus isn’t praying for them!
Sure, Jesus teaches everyone good things and performs miracles for many people, including those who don’t follow him. But don’t confuse external benefits with a beauty-filled life that comes from a close relationship with Him.
Follow him and he will pray for you.
