They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
If you spend daily, almost constant time getting to know Jesus, and listening to what he says. If you take time to understand what he’s saying, and once you know what he’s telling you to do, you immediately step out and do it, you’re following Jesus. If you’re doing less than that, you’re probably following someone else’s way or your own, and picking and choosing what will help you get where you want to go.
If you follow his way, he will lead you into a life better than you could have led yourself into. His way leads you safely through death into eternal glory. If you take your way—plus more or less of God—you may live a good life, but you will come short of what your life could have been.
Who really is first in your life, Jesus or you? If you’re first, you may be trying to get Jesus to follow you. Or you may be following someone’s teaching about Jesus, but not Jesus.
Quickly, while you see his footsteps—before they wash away, and you’re only following the memory of him—follow him.
