First You Go

In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely. And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.
Titus 2:6-8

Mervin wanted to live a plain and simple life. No cars. No power tools. No phones. He always caused rubs. He wanted us to change to become like him.

Although Mervin constantly jabbed us for using cars, power tools, and phones, whenever he got into a jam, he’d borrow one of ours.

Poor Mervin never learned this lesson. After getting frustrated because he couldn’t change the rest of us, he moved far away and decided he’s an atheist. Now he tries to convert everyone to atheism.

His children, who all are now adults, are angry and brokenhearted.

Mervin would have influenced more people had he lived what he taught.
