It Never Was Mine

“Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said,
‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man,
harvesting crops you didn’t plant
and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate.
I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth.
Look, here is your money back.’”
Matthew 25:24, 25

When life is over, whatever I have accumulated is God’s. I won’t get to keep any of it. What I’ll have is the person I’ve become and the blessings I receive from God for the people I’ve helped.

Some people are so afraid of making mistakes they won’t venture out. Some exploit other people, stealing what’s not theirs because they find some reason for not planting and harvesting their own crops. They think it’s not fair for God to take it back. They see God as greedy and demanding. So they huddle in a corner and put their gifts in a fireproof safe where no one can use them.

But God owns everything and he can do whatever he wants with what’s his.

When we find and align with God’s version of how he wants us to live, life works extremely well. He blesses us beyond what we could have imagined.
