His Favor

His Favor

“He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free,
and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”
Luke 4:18,19

When I dialog with God through praying sincerely and reading the Word, I stop thinking like me and start thinking like him. I get released from the captivity of the dark, lifeless, and destructive thought patterns I invented for myself, inherited from my parents, absorbed from the culture around me, or were strategically placed by Satan to derail me.

Then the clutter and fog in my mind clears up. I see life more clearly—as it is—rather than through my old filters. I can identify the thoughts from the devil that he may have disguised as my own and let the Spirit toss them out. The devil can’t take away God’s love, his light, his presence, or his authority.

As I become pure inside, favor moves toward me from the outside. Although some of this divine favor is supernatural, it’s also cause and effect. People move away from me when I’m full of myself and move toward me when I’m full of God and interested in helping them.
That’s the work of the Spirit.
