Find God’s Purpose in Pain

Find God’s Purpose in Pain

“As Jesus was walking along,
he saw a man who had been blind from birth.
“Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind?
Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”
“It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,”
Jesus answered. “This happened
so the power of God could be seen in him.”
John 9:1-3

The disciples wanted to know why this man had been suffering all his life. This was a tough question: Whose sin caused this man’s blindness?

Jesus knew the bigger story. He told them this was to show God’s power at this very moment.

Sometimes God has long-term purposes behind our struggles. My belief (and I could be wrong) is that sometimes we remain in a bondage we’re struggling desperately to get free from. And we’re not getting free, not because of sin, but because of God’s timing.

When bad things happen, remember God has a bigger reason behind everything. Sometimes God sets the stage in advance for when he wants to show his power to further his kingdom.

God please show me a bigger kingdom purpose for my pain when there is no human explanation.
