Sensible people control their temper;
they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.
When we become angry with someone, we give up our ability to influence them. As soon as we lose the strength of our influence, we become ineffective as leaders. Leaders need thick skin, soft hearts, and the ability to quickly move past or overlook wrongs and mistakes.
We’re responsible to hold people accountable, but in doing so, we must control our temper, even if they’ve caused a huge problem with major repercussions. This is emotional intelligence.
Lord, help us to control our emotions and be willing to overlook wrongs against us.
