Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.
“Can you hear me now?” I say to God.
“Hello? Hello? Are you there?” wisdom calls back to me.
“Hold on. Let me climb this tree. There, is that better?”
“Yes, I can hear you now.”
“I can hear you too.”
Sometimes we pray for wisdom, then run from the phone when we don’t get an immediate answer. Sometimes we need to reposition ourselves so we can hear. Or get away from the noise.
I meet so many people with so many problems. They seem to think they’re going to find a quick and easy fix. When they don’t find it, they quit looking and brace themselves to stay stuck in the rut for a long, long time.
Yet wisdom says Cry out and dig deep.
Newsflash: Most projects cost more than we estimate they will!
Maybe we go into a problem, thinking it’s going to be easy. Then we run out of hope and energy partway in. Maybe we should budget more energy and hope than we think we’ll need. Then when we get to the other side, we’ll have energy left for the victory party
