“Don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says.
Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free,
and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard,
then God will bless you for doing it.”
James 1:22, 25

Most of the time, reading or listening to the Bible just feels good. It’s easy to sit through church, Sunday School, or scripture reading and feel God’s presence and get great insights. Then I can leave, and I think because I got great insights and feel good, I’m OK.

God says if I see, hear, and feel, but don’t DO, I’m fooling myself. It’s easy to read the Bible every day, feel good, then go through my day without ever thinking about what I read or how to apply it. Disciplining my mind to remember and apply it can be hard.

Yet, I find even making a small effort at remembering and applying what I learned brings amazing results into my life. God blesses me when I apply what I read to my actions.
